There are so many reasons why the Met Gala 2024 is such an amazing display of red-carpet fashion at the annual fundraiser for The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute. One big reason? It kicks off on the first Monday in May, famously known as fashion’s grandest evening. Picture this: the Met Gala 2024 starts on the museum's iconic staircase, its red carpet stretching across the stone steps, making it an incredible photo opportunity unlike anything else!

Before entering the beloved New York City institution for the ultra-exclusive Met Gala event, guests were greeted on Monday by a swarm of photographers. However, prior to this red-carpet spectacle, they were given specific dress code instructions. This allowed attendees and their stylists to unleash their creative visions on the iconic Met Gala red carpet. The Met Gala 2024 celebrated the Costume Institute’s spring exhibition, “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion,” under the theme “The Garden of Time.” Inspired by a 1962 short story of the same name by English writer J.G. Ballard, the theme sparked a diverse array of red carpet looks that captivated both guests and onlookers. The concept evoked imagery of lush nature scenes, the passage of time, and vibrant florals in full bloom, creating a mesmerizing visual spectacle.

The Met Gala 2024 red carpet saw its early stars in the event’s hosts and co-chairs. Zendaya, Jennifer Lopez, Chris Hemsworth, and Bad Bunny stood alongside Anna Wintour as co-chairs for the night. Additionally, Shou Chew, the chief executive officer of TikTok, and Jonathan Anderson, the creative director of Loewe, were honored as chairs for the evening's festivities.

Zendaya made a splash at the Met Gala with not one, but two stunning looks, both designed by John Galliano from different phases of his career. For her first appearance on the iconic Met stairs, the Challengers star donned a custom blue haute couture gown from Maison Margiela Artisanal by John Galliano. This intricate piece featured hand-painted metallic crin bands, iridescent organza, an aluminum drape and bow, and a beautifully hand-embroidered corsage. Later in the evening, Zendaya reemerged at the base of the stairs, accompanied by her longtime stylist and collaborator Law Roach, in a striking Victorian-inspired Givenchy dress also designed by John Galliano, complete with a sweeping train as she headed back towards the museum's entrance.
